Posted by Steven, August 11, 2011

Marvin RettenmaierTeam Titan’s Marvin Rettenmaier was able to make the final table of two Merit Cyprus Classic tournaments staged in Cyprus on the very same day, but he wasn’t able to win either one.

Marvin was doing well in the $5,500 Main Event and was happy with how he was playing. As Marvin posted on his Facebook page:

“I finished day 2 with 130k... happy with how i played... got lucky once where I 3betshoved 109s for 28bb co vs hj... hj had ak, sb folded queens - he put me on kings...lol.. board ran out Q j x 8 x :)...brought me back from 34 to 72k... he was going all mad about it and at the same time timberlakes "cry me a river" was playing...epic... 40 players left... avg 113k...1k/2k/300 lets do this!!!”

Marvin had to fight his way back to win his seat at the final table. He posted:

“I was down to 180k but heard that I could win another bracelet, so fought my way back up to 560k... avg 450k.”

Things didn’t go according to plan the next day. Marvin posted that he didn’t have a good start, and also he had a bad seat draw.

“The guys on my left are taking the chips from the guys on my right...sigh…”

In the end, Marvin finished in 6th place for a prize of $36,133.

“I lost every hand that got to a flop...was down to 270, then got back up to 400, then got it in 1010 vs ak, where another guy folded ak...just lost one too many flips this tourney..sigh.”

Marvin then went on to play the $1,100 No Limit Hold’em Bounty event, where he finished in 7th place for a prize of $2,803.
